Great Western Highway Shell Corner

This project involved the widening of the Great Western Highway from two lanes to four lanes at Shell Corner, just west of Katoomba in Sydney’s Blue Mountains. SMM provided landscape and urban design services for all aspects of the highway upgrade including: road alignment, major structures, and planting. Through close collaboration with Maunsell Australia throughout the project, ensured the success of integrating the landscape and urban design with the engineering design, and produced an outcome where the new infrastructure is an integral part of the larger landscape.
