The Miller Street Pop-up is a recently created public space in the heart of North Sydney central business district. Delivered under NSW Department of Planning & Environment Streets as Shared Spaces program, the design of the Miller Street Pop-up evolved from a collaboration between SMM's Active Cities, Streets and Places team and North Sydney Council's project group.
Located on a former parking/loading/clear zone, this piece of roadway has been converted into a vibrant place for people providing social, economic and environmental benefits that contribute to the post-lockdown recovery of Miller Street.
The outcome is a simple but classic combination of furniture, raised decking and lush foliage that complements the surrounding architecture and public domain, creating a pleasant and peaceful space that accommodates activities of daily life for local residents, workers and visitors.
Located opposite the site of the new Victoria Cross Metro station, the Pop-up is a preview of Council's broader vision for the future pedestrianisation of Miller Street.
